GOMX-1 Demonstrated the Potential on Aircraft Tracking from Space

The 2 kg "2U" satellites was launched in November 2013 from Russia with a Dnepr rocket and sucessfully demonstrated space based on reception of ADS-B signals from aircraft. The demonstration was hugely successful and the unique dataset generated has been used to further refine our aircraft tracking payload and capabilities as now offered to the market, e.g. for Aerial & Maritime.

The project was sponsored in part by the Danish Innovation Fund and our partners in the mission were Aalborg University and Insero Software.

The satellite remains in operation and is used by GomSpace to characterise the radiation effects on our subsystems.

GOMX-1 was a giant leap showcasing to the market the innovation and utility of our nanosatellites
