ASTER Labs, Inc. has been selected as the exclusive reseller for GomSpace ApS’ nanosatellite, or “CubeSat”, products in the United States and Canada.
ASTER Labs is a preeminent innovator of spacecraft navigation technologies and GomSpace is recognized as a world leader providing high quality, flight proven, third-generation CubeSat compatible subsystems focused on mission success. The agreement between ASTER Labs and GomSpace improves access to CubeSat products for governmental, academic, and commercial research and development.
ASTER Labs will begin immediate operations to support sales of GomSpace products within the U.S. and Canada.
ASTER Labs’ CEO and Founder, Dr. Suneel I. Sheikh said, “ASTER Labs is excited at the leap forward this agreement brings to the future of space technology development. GomSpace is an outstanding global nanosatellite developer and systems provider, and they will be an excellent partner for ventures in US and Canada for not only extending commercial space opportunities, but with applied space-related research as well. The race for space is expanding beyond traditional government programs, and CubeSats significantly reduce barriers for academic research and commercial enterprises as they move from theoretical to experimental research, by providing a small, manageable, expandable form factor for space-based testing and evaluation.”
GomSpace’s CEO Niels Buus states, “ASTER Labs is an established leader in spacecraft navigation research in the United States and Canada. They have solid market knowledge, an extensive network and within particularly academia and governmental agencies, they are a proven, reliable partner. GomSpace is today amongst the leading providers of CubeSats in European, Asian, and African markets and selecting ASTER Labs for our expansion to the American and Canadian market seems a natural step. We are quite confident that ASTER Labs can bring our CubeSats to these markets at both high speed and in reliable manners. The development potential within the aerospace industry and the demand for nanosatellites are in rapid growth and in particularly recent years, the market has been commercialized. For decades, the field has been characterized and driven by predominantly a research-oriented approach, but as knowledge within the complex field and incentives for commercialization have grown in scope and awareness, the potential of nanosatellites within the industries such as the military, telecom, maritime, and aviation has become evident. It has, in many aspects, been demonstrated that the technology of nanosatellites can bring value to society as a whole as well as on a basic level to man in everyday life situations.”
ASTER Labs anticipates providing full service and support for nanosatellite missions including, CubeSat component technical sales and support, hardware and software customization support based on project needs, and project development based on research budget and goals. Synergy between existing ASTER Labs collaboration and GomSpace nanosatellites products is expected to lead to growth in the US market. The new agreement will support research from ideation to satellite launch, deployment, and operations.
